Unleashing science in an industry with momentum…

What if what’s going into your mouth, might actually make you sick?

The dental industry has been growing rapidly in the past decades in ways most of us are familiar with, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, teeth straightening and whitening. Chipped, broken teeth, and cavities aside. We all know about how good routine dental hygiene can prevent periodontal disease, etc. We brush & floss daily, and go the dentist regularly for preventative care. But what if there was something your dentist wasn’t telling you?

What if there are ways in which your dental health & dental care affect your overall body health, that your dentist, and even your doctor don’t know about? Where can you turn for help if you become that unlucky person affected by the many systemic diseases of dental origin, more complex than your average Dr. or DDS is prepared to be able to diagnose or treat? (And, equally important, how can you best prevent yourself from ever becoming that patient!) The fact is, too many patients simply get labeled unlucky sufferers of chronic, incurable illnesses and are destined to, sometimes life long regimens of antibiotics, steroids and other unnecessary medications and treatments. Of course, not all chronic illnesses are related to the teeth, but far too seldom do providers look toward the teeth, to find the cause when problems actually do arise from dental origin.

Your dentist probably isn’t keeping secrets intentionally. Let’s say your dentist has been practicing for 10 years. His schooling taking him a minimum of 8 years to complete. (He began 18 years ago). The curriculum for said academic studies having been compiled over decades, even centuries prior. (Yes, relicensing often requires units of continued education but, lets face it, science is most often moving quicker than curriculum, or regulatory commissions, can integrate). Is he or she the inquisitive type who’s furthered their education and kept abreast of the latest scientific news? Or has a daily grind of drilling, filling & pulling kept their time occupied and the practice booming?

Chances are, if the practice is really booming, they’ve expanded into cosmetic dentistry, implants, & orthodontics, and improving the appearance of mostly healthy smiles. A fast-paced and competitive industry with new, better, & more advanced products infiltrating the markets, keeping manufactures and dental tech companies thriving, and patients smiling… for the most part. But, what if some of what’s being put in your mouth during these many routine treatments, one fateful & unsuspecting day, might actually make you very sick?

Here at ACTI – Dental Origins we educate both patients, and doctors from a perspective of patient advocacy and whole body health. With over 20 years of experience, from that of the complex patient, to that of the successful praxis, we strive to unite providers and patients in understanding, in the fields of medicine, and general & biological dentistry.
